Try kiteboarding aka kitesurfing on shallow lagoons like the Ria do Alvor closed to Meia Praia between Lagos and Alvor / Portimao, we provide VDWS-certified Kiteboarding Instructors, new equipment from Cabrinha Kiteboarding and BEST Kiteboarding as well as safety equipment from Pro-Limit and B3. At the Ria de Alvor you will not find crowded kite spots like Tarifa or cabarete where it is very hard to learn kitesurfing because of to many kiteboarders and kites on the water. Our kite school in Lagos will take you to our "own" little kitesurfing island in the middle of the lagoon Alvor where it is very safe to learn how to fly the kite, Relaunch an inflatable power kite from the water and how to get up on the kiteboard. Our Kiteboarding Instructors will give you kiteboarding lesson in English, German and Portuguese. In the beginner kite course you will learn how the kite flys in the wind window, how to launch, handle and land an inflatable kite We don´t take more than 4 kitesurfing students per kite instructor. Praia de Alvor is perfect for more experienced kitesurfer with flat water and offshore winds. If you want we will pick you up at the marina of Lagos or Praia da Rocha closed to Portimao or even in Albufeira, the number one tourist resort of the Algarve.
Surfing is the mother of boardsport. The kings of Hawaii and Tahiti where the first ones who where surfing the waves, than surfing started at the west coast of the U.S.A. Australia and South Africa. Portugal is one of Europe's prime surf countrys. The west Algarve offers great surfing potential year around. Warm water, you never need more than a 3/2 wetsuit, so many surfspots to choose from between Zavial, Sagres, Carrapateira, Arrifana, depending on the swell direction… you can surf reefbreaks, beachbreaks, A-frames, lefts and rights, you find something for every surfer at the Algarve. The summertime can get a little crowded at the famous surf spots but their are plenty of other surfspots to choose. In fall, winter and spring it is perfect for surfer of every level. Surf beginners will learn fast with our well trained and experienced surf instructors from the British Surfing Association. Our surf school is equipped with new surfboards from Bic, NSP and for more advanced surfers we have some custom shortboards from local and international shapers. To keep you warm in the water we are using wetsuits fron O´Neill, Pro-Limit and Alder.
If you want a real surfing- or kiteboarding holiday than you should consider staying in our Algarve surf and kite camp. Located on the west coast of the Algarve about 35 kilometers north of Sagres our new surf hostel, Only five minutes away from great surf beaches like Arrifana, Monte Clerigo and Amoreira and 20 minutes to Carrapateira and Praia do Armado you can be sure not to miss any of the great swells which the Portuguese west coast receives. You can choose if you want to stay in a share room with other surfers in Surf-Hostel Style or rather have more privacy in a double room with a privat bathroom. Every morning you will be served a big, healthy breakfast before you take the camp bus to the beach. If you like to stay more privately we offer also apartments for groups and families.
