Kiteboarding

Kiteboarding is the fastest growing watersport of the last years and our Team was with it from day one. Kiteboarding combines elements from surfing, wake- and snowboarding with the flying skills of traction kites and paragliding. The kiter does not need a wave or a boat, an inflatable kite and a little bit of wind produces enough power to surf over flat water. Experts use the kite to jump and perform rotations, grabs and other tricks.

The strong Nortada wind and the big lagoon offer ideal conditions to learn and practice kiteboarding on the Algarve. That is why the PKRA choose the beach of Alvor as one tour stops of the professional Kiteboarding Worldtour. The Wind from the north gets accelerated by the serra de monchique and hits the shallow water of the Alvor lagoon. This glassy, warm water with constant, strong wind is for kiteboarding like a sunny day with fresh powder for a snowboarding. The Lagoon offers an easy and save environment to practice the first rides and a perfect training ground for crazy handlepass-kiteloop moves. The portuguese Pro Riders who are also training on the lagoon and the close-by ocean keep the motivation and inspiration up.
